The path was soft under his scaly claws. He kicked up dirt as he went, the wind whipping about him.
He walked, his arms at his side, but his eyes darted back and forth across the plains, always aware of any impending danger.
He wasn't human, that was for sure. He could only hope the humans would accept him. He had decided long ago that the beasts were in the wrong for launching their attack. He wasn't sure what the dragons were thinking. They certainly seem to have been acting odd lately.
The gate lay before him, massive and ominous. He spotted a few alert soldiers nearby, and approached with caution.

Set out on gate duty for the 3rd time this month because of "Strange Beasts" was something different but still, Ren would rather be fiddling with metal then sitting in the sun where nothing really happened. Chit chat floated through the air but she pretty much ignored it.
A slight breeze subtlety waved her hair about while she tapped on the obsidian metal rod that was connected to the golden photon edged blade. The chatting ceased and she turned her head to an approaching beast. She quickly reacted by shuffling over "What is your reason of treading this ground, beast?" Those sky blue eyes scanned over the hybrid beast and waited patiently for an answer.

Tajier looked at the human. She was good and strong. He grinned,
"Hey, lassie. Nice t'see there's a good guard out t'day." he said, his tail swishing behinds him. He kicked up a little more dust than he thought, and coughed slightly.
"Name's Tajier," he continued, extending a hand in greeting. "I'm here t'fight fer yeh humans. Dragon lord seems t'have gone crazy er somethin'. I mean, launchin' an attack on yeh like they'll die by livin' on the same planet as humans...really now."

Ren contemplated on the words spoken by the hybrid "Mhm." Still thinking upon why a beast had come here, normal guard would have jumped and killed on sight. But patience worked better in many situations. "Ren Felos, 3rd Branch Leader of the Knights." She returned with a simple handshake and a mellow smile while listening to his explanation. "Hmm, I may have to speak to my superiors about this one, Tajier. As you would probably know many of the people living within those gates would love to rip your tail off." scratching the back of her neck and shifting the weapon, Ren thought about whether she should talk to the higher-ups or not.

Tajier clenches his jaw at the thought of what the other humans might do. He was grateful that Ren was more patient than the others.
"Want me t'wait here, lassie?" he asked, a little aprehesive. He could feel the eyes of the other guards on him suspisciously. He tried not to let his nervousness poke through his demeanor. He hid it well: he was a seasoned warrior after all.

"Knights, go about your doings. We have a friend here." she barked and the soldiers looked away from the beast, going back to their chatting. She turned back to the lizardman "I will only be a minute, just wait while I debate this with my superiors." she wandered nearer to the gates and pulled out a phone of some sort. She asked questions in a low tone and got the replies she wanted. While talking over the device she ran a hand through her hair.
Minutes later she wandered back to Tajier "You'll get someone to follow you around for a small while, just to be sure you are no troublemaker. And surprisingly enough I volunteered. I will guide you and get you familiar with the society and everything else you would like to know." She rarely spoke that much to anyone but just wanted to give a clear explanation.

Tajier was a little frustrated. He had helped the humans numerous times before and yet he was being treated like some criminal. He hid his anger in a polite cough and glanced around.
"Well, I have t'thank yeh, lassie. First time a human's actually spoken t'me if'n I was an equal. I-"
He was cut off by a sudden shout of astonishment from the wall. A few knight were pointing their weapon into the distance behind him. He turned around quickly and took a step back at what he saw.
A large beast was charging across the plains straight for the gate. It's head reared up and a roar exploded from its throat. Tajier could see the cloud of dust it kicked up as it ran. He growled, and ignoring the looks from the knights, he readied his bow and aimed.

"WAIT~" Zhou screamed, "I DIDNT SAY YOU SMELLED BAD, I SAID YOU COULD SMELL BETTER!!!"
The man trailed behind the charging beast, in hopes to reconcile a conversation gone bad. On this particular afternoon, Zhou had ventured out of Crescent to study the relatively docile beasts that roam the ends of the Outlands. His intentions were anything but rude, and yet, somehow, his inability to quell his judgments prevailed. His odorous statement seemed to have offended the beast, and sent it running towards the Gates.
"PLEA-OMFH" Sprinting through the dust kicked up by the beast, Zhou was unable to see where he was headed. He tripped over a small boulder and tumbled to the churned earth on the side.
"Damn..." He whined as he rubbed the debris from his eye. It took him a few seconds to find his weapon, and as his hands groped the grass, his fingers landed on the familiar rod. Tiny gears whirred, locks unhinged, pieces collapsed, and Photons materialized. The soft golden glow of the bow that formed in his fist agrivated his already sore eyes... "I didnt want to do this..."
Zhou tugged on the etherial bowstring... He couldnt aim, as his eyes were too unfocussed,... He wouldnt hold it steady, as he felt bad for attacking the beast, ...and his heart sunk as he shot blindly into the cloudy abyss. Unbeknown to him, a lizardfolk man had been doing the same thing, Only thousands of feet on the other side of the beast. Would both efforts stop the raging animal?

The scene before him made him laugh inwardly, but he gritted his teeth and loosed an arrow toward the beast. An odd whirring sound made him stiffen as the missle hit it.
A gold flash was approaching Tajier. He had never seen anything like it. He blinked and stared at it. It was coming on fast, whirring and whirring...
His eyes widened as he realized what it was.
"Farkin' toad feathers!" he bellowed, leaping to the side as the glowing arrow sunk into the wood of the gate behind him. "What the hell was tha'?! These new-fangle weapon is gonna get us all killed!"
Regaining his footing, he spotted the man repsosible for the action. He waved his bow-clad arm angrily as the beasts continued to approach the gate rapidly.
Loosing another five shots swiftly from his photon-less bow, the beast slowed to a halt, groaning and roaring in pain. He ignored the thing and stalked passed it, heading straight for the man holding the other bow.
"What was that for, yeh lummox?! I could 'ave 'ad me head sliced off! Who knows what those damn glowin' arrahs can do?!" he barked, shaked the bow at him/

The woman nodded, her gaze shifted to the sounds from the gate and the glowing glaive was now in ready hands. The beast came quickly with the trailing dust to the gate. With surprising agility she dove in and sliced at the beast helping to slow it, wasn't the easiest thing to do but Ren managed.
Her gaze snapped to the right where a blue flash was aimed to Tajier. Arrows. She wouldn't judge the reason because the dust was fairly thick, probably just a miss-fire. "Slow down, Tajier." Lightly pushing him farther from the other human. "Was that a miss-fire, good sir?" being as polite as normal when consulting with strangers, she offered somewhat of a smile.

Tajier growled, but conceded to Ren, moving away from the human. He looked like another reckless child in his opinion.
He stood there, crossing his arms, waiting for the delinquent's answer, his bow hanging from one hand. What the hell was he doing chasing such a large beast anyway? It was more then ten times his own size!

[[ GOLD FLASH.... GOLD >.< ]]
"Missfire... Yeah, Thats it." He continued to rub his eyes as he dug through his bag for glasses. When his gaze finally focussed, He could see the stern face of Ren. "Oh, Miss Ren. Its you... Stationed on the Gate today huh?"
Zhou struggled to stand; joints cracked, and muuscles ached. Slapping off dust, he looked over the groaning beast and pouted. "Just what the hell did you do that for?! You Didnt have to kill the man!" Zhou shook a fist in the lizards face. Even though Zhou, too, was ready to sink an arrow deep in the rear of beast. "And whats with the funny accent? Proper English not good enough for you?" With his nose high in the air, Zhou began reassembling his staff. The tiny gears whirred, the little locks rehinged, and together, a Y shaped blade materialized at the head. The bright white glow burned his eyes worse than the gold had, and he fliched.
"I think I need to see an ophthalmologist... Maybe 'see' is the wrong word..."

Ren sighed and looked back at the beast that now lay in agony. The she went back to Zhou "Hey, lay off on the insults for me, Zhou.." another silent sigh passed through her lips and she shifted into leaning on the weapon. The knights were already back to idle chit-chat as if nothing had happened just moments ago. Ren fiddled about with her light, earthy hair and waited for Tajier or more chatting.

"I didnt Mean you, Miss Ren... I was Talking to the Scaley dude next to you.... Disrespect to a Knight is unaaceptable..." Zhou bowed out of questionable homage... One must observe the niceties of rank; If not, there would be no order. Even in wartime, Its best just to play the rules and sit in your spot.
Zhou Didnt like bowing... It made him feel inferior; like he wasn't as entitled. If he was going to do or be anything, he would be one of the best, and even though he was, it still irked him to submit.
"Raien and I are leaving for a hunt, Tomorrow morning. Appearantly, a quarry to the east was opened. Indigo crystals fetch a pretty fang in the Outland markets... If we can nab some chunks, expect a hefty cut of the profits, Mein Smith~ Raien's been working on a new design for extentions to his sheilds, and who are we to trust better than Master Smith Ren?"
As Zhou's temper began to cool, he shuffled hs feet to a more dignified pose, and greeted the Lizard man properly. "As for you... You may adress me as Zhou. What May I call you?" He hesitated to stick out his hand, but it was already dirty enough. A few imaginary germs couldnt hurt.... OR COULD THEY?~

Tajier was still disgusted at the man's demeanor, though he hid it well. He glanced at the outstretched hand and reluctantly shook it.
"Name's Tajier," he grunted. "Ach, lassie, there a place I can stay for th'night?" he asked Ren, ignoring Zhou's comment about his accent. "I'm mighty tired." He leaned back, putting a little weight on his tail. His legs and feet hurt more than a rug burn of a hot summer day.
He chuckled at his own comparison. He liked his way of talking. He tried not to yawn, as it was impolite in front of a lady.
