Crank sighed. It was so boring around here. She would much rather be out in the field, planning their next move of Crescent, but the higher-ups had assigned her to this desk position. Even smiting with their stolen photons would be better than this.
Though it wasn't exactly a desk, now that she thought about it. It was more of a large stone tucked into a side room within the cave. The walls were lined with lanterns, their flames dwindling. She made a note to go fill the up again. If only she could get permission to use photons as the light source. Then she would never have to fill them up again.
She wasn't sure what her current task was. She sat in the semi-dark thinking of how eager she was to get out and eat some humans. Her tail waggled at the thought. Maybe the commander would allow her to transfer departments. Who knows? She'd rather be doing almost anything other than this.

Leon trotted about his dwelling in the outer reaches of Heaven's breath. Simply going about his own business. He noticed a cave off in the distance through a thin area of trees. Instantly he bolted for it and made a flashy skid. Always showing off and normally that is what got him into trouble. He stopped and let his eyes adjust to the dim lights then noticed a "desk" with some beast hanging at it. His ears twitched and he stretched his wings from the short nap he took before running about.

Crank's head shot up and automatically growled. The beast domain was full of dangers, so she couldn't help from being paranoid.
"Oh, it's you," she said, relaxing a little. "Hi, Leon."
She stretched in her chair, wishing the boss would give her some field work. She's much rather be hunting.

Leon trotted over with his head held higher than it should. He re-folded his wings and glanced over to Crank. "Hey." he pranced over with a cocky smile slung over that snout. His eyes still hadn't totally adjusted but good enough to see "Haha, desk duty." somewhat challenging Crank's temper with the statement.

Crank smiled slightly. He was always testing her patience, but she wasn't one to become perturbed.
"It's not so bad," she argued. "At least I don't have to deal with field commanders."
She stretched, her wing-arms spreading.
"What are you up to today?"

"Okay, you win this one." he winked. The two always went back and fourth with friendly arguments and it was eithers' game. aT this point in their little game Leon was just one argument won ahead.
He grinned and stretched his wings once more to feel the echoing breeze over the spread wings. It was warmer today than normal but it wasn't much of a bother to most animals, they welcomed the warmth.

"Any news on human movement?" Crank asked, glancing at the ceiling. "I'd really like to do something today." She sighed, dreaming of the hunt.
Suddenly, a welcome sound. A loud roar echoed over the icy landscape.
"And, there's the shift end," Crank said gratefully. The roar acted as a sort of bell to notify desk and guard workers that the shifts were over. Crank stretched again and leaped from the chair. "Any chance you wanna go hunting with me?"

"They haven't sent me out yet I'll be heading off to the Outlands a week or so from now." he explained. Though no matter how he meant to say things they came with the same cocky ring to it. He never could figure out[or just never bothered] to figure out why all his words came out that way.
His ears twitched when the roar thundered beyond the mountains. He knew the shifts were over, luckily he was off today though. "Hell yeah I do!" his smile tweaked up a bit at the thought. Another competition the two shared, hunting to see who could get the best game first.

Crank growled, punching the wolf playfully on the shoulder. "You know I'm gonna catch the biggest one today. I heard the elks are back."
The elk always made their annual trip to Heaven's Breath as part of their migration patterns. This was Crank's favorite time to hunt. Unlike most predetors, she aims for the healthiest one just for a challenge. She rarely got it, and ended up settling for an easier catch, but she always talked big game when the time of year came.
Bouncing along the rocks, her wings spread for balance, she looked back along the many waterfalls of the domain.
"Hey, Leon, you coming?"

Leon snapped back in the same playful manor, watching her dart off thinking on whether he'd snipe the biggest one or just take it on. He started into a run, wings tucked in for more land-speed. He quickly caught up and sniffed the large herd only 30 yards off. "30 yards." he barked already darting into the direction of the Elk. Once he was closer he slowed to a nearly silent trot and ducked behind a bush and looked to spot the biggest one.
Of course it was a massive bull with deadly horns. Leon grinned and licked his chops, he darted and took flight on a wind. He floated around and then the Elk was dumb enough to think he had disappeared. He started to dive bomb down onto the massive animal.

(woah fast moving lol. slow down! xDDD)
Crank dashed to keep up with the wolf. He was always too eager to get places. She watched as he stalked the buck. She's let him have this one. By the time he caught it, the rest of the herd would already be aware of their presence.
Perching up in the tree, she shivvered. It was oddly cold for being summer. On the other hand, Heaven's Breath was very far north. She silently wished to be in the south again, hunting the human armies.

Leon took it down after 15 or 20 minutes, the large animal almost crunched his ribcage, but he was fine. The cocky smile turned to a grin as he judged the kill "Heck YEAH!" he pranced around the kill with his head held high, wings out stretched. Shortly after his little "dance" Leon dove into the large beast for a meal.

"Hey, Leon," Crank called from the tree. "Any chance you're gonna share some?"
With a twist of her waist, she swung down from the tree, landing with crunch on the dead leaves. There was always leaves on the ground in the forests here, even in the summer. The rest of the heard had gone, so she safely trotted out to meet the wolf.
"Jeez, you must be starving," she commented, watching his vigor.

With a filled mouth he called back "Fhure" Then pausing to swallow what he'd bitten off then went back in for more. He sat back while consuming the chunk, leaves crunching when his weight distributed. He swallowed with a sight of total contentment. "Just a lil'" he said with a bloody grin. He looked up to the sky for a moment then spotted something. He squinted and figured out that it was a dragon. Even though this was their territory they rarely came to the lowlands, something must be up.
The large beast swooped down to Heaven's Breath.

Crank blinked, the meat dropping from her claws.
"What's a commander doing in HB this time of day?" she said, more to herself than to Leon. Leaving the carcass where it was, she trotted over to his landing site.
The dragon panted as if he was in a rushing from something. On closer inspection, Crank determined he was not a commander, but a runner.
"Are you Crank, 6th Devision Lieutenant, Stealth Unit?" he panted.
Crank blinked. It had been a long time since she was addressed as her full title. This only happened when there was major action going on. Something must be up.
"...who wants to know?" she said skeptically.
"Commander Jihriad needs to see you right away in his office. He said it's urgent. I wouldn;t keep him waiting."
Crank groaned. The commander's office was all the way in the dragon highlands. Even if she ran, she'd only make it in an hour.
